A policeman was abducted and killed by suspected militants in Kulgam on Saturday. The body of constable Mohammad Saleem Shah of Mutalhama village, who was abducted on Friday night from his residence, was found in the Qaimoh area on Saturday afternoon. “He had come home a few days ago from Kathua, where he was undergoing training,” said the police.This is the third such killing in the past two months. Constable Javid Ahmad Dar was kidnapped and killed by militants in early July. On June 14, militants abducted an Army man, Aurangzeb, from Pulwama and killed him.Militants attacked a CRPF patrol in Anantnag and an Army convoy in Kulgam. Earlier in the day, the Army spotted a group of infiltrators near the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara’s Tanghdar sector.“The armed infiltrators were engaged in a gunfight in the dense forests of Balthedyan along the LoC, adjacent to Tony post. The operation is on in the area,” said a police official.
