Chawrasia, Kapur to tee off in Sweden

first_imgMalmo (Sweden), May 31 (PTI) Indian golfer SSP Chawrasia, who was unable to fire over the weekend at the BMW PGA Championships, will be hoping that his first appearance at the Nordea Masters after a gap of three years will be a more fruitful one. Winner of four European Tour titles in his six international successes, Chawrasia has made the cut at Nordea twice in four previous starts, the last of which was in 2013. He finished T-52 in 2013 and T-47 in 2009. Also flying the Indian flag will be in-form Shiv Kapur, who won in Taiwan and was second at Thailand in recent weeks. Kapur has also had mixed results in Nordea Masters, having made three cuts and missed as many since 2010. His best was T-40 in 2011. But this time around he is coming in good form with a win and T-2 on Asian Tour and he was also T-12 at Maybank, which is con-sanctioned by Asian and European Tours. Chawrasia will tee off with Nacho Elvira and Raphael Jacquelin from 10th while Kapur will go out with Oscar Stark and Simon Dyson, also from the tenth. Meanwhile, the field for this years Nordea Masters will see two of Swedens biggest sporting superstars return home. The reigning Race to Dubai champion Henrik Stenson and BMW PGA Champion Alex Noren will tee it up together in the first and second rounds alongside defending Nordea Masters champion Matthew Fitzpatrick in what is a mouth-watering group for the home crowds. Another interesting group will be the 2016 Ryder Cup player Chris Wood of England alongside fellow multiple European Tour winners Joost Luiten of the Netherlands and Thorbjørn Olesen of Denmark. The field also has some other big names like the 2018 Ryder Cup Captain Thomas Bjørn alongside ten-time Ryder Cup legend Lee Westwood and Frenchman Alexander Levy, who earned a spot at the US Open at Mondays International Sectional Qualifier at Walton Heath. Europe Wins Ryder Cup Again

first_imgGLENEAGLES, Scotland — Europe added another layer of Ryder Cup dominance on Sept. 28th behind Rory McIlroy big start, two big rallies and a rookie who hit the shot of his life to give this performance a finish it deserved.Jamie Donaldson, unaware he already had done enough to retain the Ryder Cup, hit a 9-iron that settled 2 feet from the cup on the 15th hole. Keegan Bradley walked onto the green, saw Donaldson’s ball next to the hole, removed his cap and conceded the birdie. And the celebration was on. The result in the record book was Europe 16½, United States 11½. It’s an old story for the Americans. Europe won for third straight time, and now has won eight of the last 10.“It came down to me to close it out, but it’s all about the team,” Donaldson said. “Everyone played their heart out to retain the Ryder Cup. And that’s what it’s all about.”McIlroy, Graeme McDowell and Justin Rose made sure the Americans would not get their redemption from the meltdown at Medinah two years ago as the first team to blow a four-point lead at home.McIlroy was 6-under par on his first six holes and trounced Rickie Fowler to set the tone. The Americans put plenty of red on the board early, just not for long.McDowell was 3-down after five holes and Rose was four behind after six holes. McDowell rallied to beat Jordan Spieth, while Rose earned a halve against Hunter Mahan.Martin Kaymer, who holed the winning point at Medinah, put Europe on the cusp of victory when he chipped in for eagle on the 16th to beat Bubba Watson. That set the stage for Donaldson. “The shot of my life,” he called it.Europe captain Paul McGinley, who spoke all week about a template for success, stood by the 15th green with the rest of the players who had finished their matches. Donaldson was mobbed by his teammates, another happy occasion for Europe.Asked for the highlight of the week, McGinley turned to Donaldson and said, “When you look at a face like that.” He put both hands on Donaldson’s face and hugged him.The Americans still can’t figure out this exhibition of team play. They even brought back Tom Watson, at 65 the oldest captain in Ryder Cup history and the last American captain to win on European soil. Watson made a series of questionable moves during team play and the Americans didn’t have much hope on Sept. 28th.Watson attributed the loss to foursomes — Europe was unbeaten in both sessions and collected seven of the eight points — though McGinley wrote that off as a fluke. Asked what he would tell his team in a final meeting, Watson said, “You played your best, but it wasn’t enough. You’ve got to find out what it takes a little better.”Watson sure didn’t find it. Except for a victory at Valhalla behind captain Paul Azinger in 2008, the Americans haven’t solved this Ryder Cup puzzle.Phil Mickelson, on the bench for both sessions Sept. 27th, finished off a 2-1 week by beating Stephen Gallacher. Asked about the future of the Ryder Cup, Mickelson went back to that last U.S. victory.“We had a great formula in ’08, and I don’t know why we strayed from it,” Mickelson said. “What Zinger did was really a good format. Maybe we should relive that.”Azinger has said that Watson never asked him about his “pod” system in which the U.S. team was broken into three groups of four players and stuck together the entire week.No team embodies togetherness quite like Europe. The Americans now have to wait two more years — Hazeltine outside Minneapolis is the next Ryder Cup — to figure that out.(DOUG FERGUSON, AP Golf Writer)TweetPinShare0 Shareslast_img read more

IOC, Tokyo Organizers Aim to Cut Costs for the 2020 Olympics

first_imgTOKYO (AP) — The International Olympic Committee and the Tokyo organizing committee wrapped up a two-day project review on Wednesday vowing to cut costs for the 2020 Games and address concerns over water pollution in Tokyo Bay.IOC vice president John Coates said the IOC needs to see cuts of $1 billion from the $12 billion budget. Coates said he saw potential for cost reduction in 11 of the 14 areas that were discussed during the meetings.“That’s the target that we think should be achievable not just by Tokyo but by all summer organizing committees,” said Coates, who chairs the IOC’s Coordination Commission for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. “What we are trying to do is create a situation where there is no strain on the public purse.”For example, Coates said IOC data from previous games shows that Olympic family lounges operate at only 40 percent capacity, meaning Tokyo organizers could save money on staffing such facilities. The IOC is seeking to make the games more affordable as part of President Thomas Bach’s “Agenda 2020” reforms. In a bid to cut costs, Tokyo organizers have moved several events to existing facilities in neighboring prefectures. In late May, local governments outside Tokyo that are to host competitions agreed with the Tokyo metropolitan government, the Japanese government and games organizers on basic principles concerning cost sharing.Yoshiro Mori, the head of the 2020 Tokyo Games organizing committee who also took part in the meetings, said it will be important to explore cost cutting “based on the framework” reached in May.Mori said that while there have been some heated debates on the cost-cutting efforts, all sides agree that the ultimate goal of delivering the best possible games should be adhered to.Coates also said that a water quality report from organizers at Odaiba in Tokyo Bay, site of the marathon swimming and triathlon events, turned up “readings that were not what they should be.”Tokyo organizers said the sub-standard results of recent tests were likely due to higher-than-usual rainfall in August.Organizers released a statement on Wednesday saying they plan to implement water quality improvement measures in advance of the games.JIM ARMSTRONG, AP Sports WriterTweetPinShare0 Shareslast_img read more

France Reaches World Cup Semifinals, Beats Uruguay 2-0

first_imgNIZHNY NOVGOROD, Russia (AP) — Antoine Griezmann’s fluke goal helped France earn a place in the World Cup semifinals.Griezmann scored with a shot that bounced off the hands of the opposing goalkeeper and into the net, giving France a 2-0 victory over Uruguay on Friday. The 1998 champions will next face either Brazil or Belgium on Tuesday in St. Petersburg.Griezmann’s shot in the 61st minute went right into the hands of Uruguay goalkeeper Fernando Muslera. But the ball popped off his palms and looped over his head and into the net.Raphael Varane gave France the lead with a header in the 40th minute. Griezmann sent in a free kick from the right side and Varane raced across the area. He got his head to the ball and sent it into the far corner behind Muslera.France went on to reach the World Cup final the last two times it advanced to the semifinals. They won their only World Cup in 1998 on home soil, and in 2006 lost to Italy on penalties.France’s Paul Pogba, right, clashes with Uruguay’s Cristian Rodriguez during the quarterfinal match between Uruguay and France at the 2018 soccer World Cup in the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium, in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, Friday, July 6, 2018. (AP Photo/Natacha Pisarenko)The match at Nizhny Novgorod Stadium pitted France’s speed against Uruguay’s stubborn defense and its occasional attacking threats. But with Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani injured and on the bench and Luis Suarez neutralized, it was France that scored the goals.Suarez, who scored two goals in the group stage, didn’t get a single touch on the ball in France’s penalty area for the entire match. Cavani scored both goals in the 2-0 win over Portugal in the round of 16, but he sat on the bench with an injured left calf he picked up in that match.Four minutes after Varane gave France the lead, Uruguay nearly equalized. France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris dived to his right and got a hand on a header from Martin Caceres, pushing it just wide of the goal.Although he didn’t score, 19-year-old France forward Kylian Mbappe again looked dangerous on the attack, trying to slice in from the right wing or directing quick passes into Uruguay’s defense.France’s Raphael Varane, center right, and Uruguay’s Matias Vecino, center left, challenge for the ball during the quarterfinal match between Uruguay and France at the 2018 soccer World Cup in the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium, in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, Friday, July 6, 2018. ROHM develops sensor IC for high-speed heart rate measurement

first_img Continue Reading Previous Kontron: new DIN Rail industrial computer series KBox A-15xNext congatec: COM Express Type 6 module with AMD Ryzen embedded processors ROHM is offering an optical heart rate sensor for smart bands and watches, which, thanks to its high-speed 1024 Hz sampling, can be used for measuring blood pressure, stress and vascular age. The BH1792GLC is the second pulse wave sensor to be developed by ROHM. It is notable for its high detection accuracy and low power consumption of only 0.44mA during measurement. The 1024Hz sampling rate makes it possible to measure the heart rate up to 32 times faster than conventional solutions. The BH1792GLC measures just 2.8x 2.8 x 0.9mm. In addition to measuring the heart rate, an infrared sensor makes it possible to detect when the device is being worn. An integrated FIFO memory helps to reduce the power consumption on the host side, which in turn decreases the power consumed by the sensor and increases the application drive time. The heart rate sensor works with supply voltages from 2.5 to 3.6V. Its operating temperature range is between -20 and +85°C. The BH1792GLC is the ideal solution for smart bands, watches, smartphones and other portable devices requiring vital sign sensing. Samples and OEM quantities of the BH1792GLC have been available since December 2017.An evaluation board (BH1792GLC-EVK-001) for use with the heart rate sensor is available from the online distributors Chip One Stop, Zyco Store (Core Staff) and RS Components, which can be connected via the ROHM sensor shield with open platform MCU boards such as Arduino Uno.Share this:TwitterFacebookLinkedInMoreRedditTumblrPinterestWhatsAppSkypePocketTelegram Tags: Chips & Components last_img read more

Liquid cooling expands applications for CompactPCI computers

first_imgWhen the first electronic computer with almost 17,500 tubes went into operation in 1946 with ENIAC, the power loss of 175kW required special cooling. If today, seventy years later, smartphones with over 3 billion transistors and only half a watt power consumption are considered, the progress is impressive and cooling no longer seems an issue. But far from it: with increasing hunger for computing power, the issue of lost power and waste heat is of new importance. By Manuel Murer and Wolfgang K. Weber, EKF                            Download PDF version of this articleA typical industrial computer based on CompactPCI Serial with a 3U European card format generates a power loss of 50 to 80W in the form of waste heat with its XEON 3 processor. Such systems typically use high-performance graphics cards based on the NVIDIA GeForce GTX or the Quadro family, for the visualization of raw data, pre-processing and events. This adds up to 150W more. It is easy to network these systems via the built-in Ethernet interfaces or the CompactPCI serial backplane, thus further increasing the computing power. Systems with 5 or 8 CPU modules are easily possible without problems. Easily? Yes, if the high-power loss of more than one kilowatt inside the volume of barely more than a shoebox would not overwhelm normal cooling systems. The entire waste heat of this video module is collected and transferred to the upper end surface (bottom left in the picture) One application for such computers is now to be found in the highly current topic autonomous driving. All manufacturers in the automotive industry are doing research on this subject and are on the roads with test vehicles. They capture relevant data from which they derive the insight as to which data and algorithms are required, and already partly react with these data autonomously (steering, braking, accelerating), albeit under the highly focused supervision of the test engineers and test drivers. These test systems are typically protected in the trunk of the vehicle, along with all other system and sensor electronics. This adds a further problem to the conventional exhaust air cooling of the multi-processor systems with high-performance fans: it is not only a problem to remove the waste heat from the subframe, there is also the question of what to do with the heat inside the luggage compartment, in the immediate vicinity of the other devices. Inside the trunk, this would soon lead to massive problems in all test systems. These two problems are solved by the new system CoolConduct from EKF, which was developed to maturity in the spring of 2017 in cooperation with a German specialist of industrial liquid cooling systems. It consists of three coordinated components. 1) A newly designed, 19″ compatible conductive plate is integrated above the subassembly of the subrack. A coolant is passed through the plate and is the primary heat exchanger for the components to be cooled. 2) A unit with (redundant) cooling pumps and a coolant tank is connected to the subrack by two bayonet Temperature inside the rack at several measurement points. T=0 Starting system w/o CoolConduct. At T=30 starting of the coolant pump. At T=35 stable conditions couplings, which can be placed several meters away from the subrack. The bayonet couplings are blow-back proof, i.e. they can be connected and decoupled in the field without coolant loss. The secondary cooling circuit is connected to the cooling pump with a further heat exchanger, which cools the coolant in the outside area. By means of these two circuits, the system can be used and cooled independently of the ambient air. Above all, there is no entry of dirt into the subassemblies via cooling. 3) Back to our presented trunk workspace for our multiprocessor system: the primary heat exchanger cools the processor and graphics modules in the rack and transfers the heat via the medium to the secondary heat exchanger. This is mounted underneath the vehicle, transversely to the direction of travel, and transfers the heat to the environment, supported by the airflow. The entire system monitors itself, any errors are, of course, reported to the test system itself and processed. In the thermographic image, the temperature difference in the cooling tubes between primary and secondary heat exchangers can be seen very clearly Up to here, the system is certainly impressive by its robustness and thermal performance alone. However, the actual innovation patented is the way in which the modules are connected to the primary heat exchanger in the subrack. The current technology with so-called wedge locks, which was used primarily in the military sector, required specially designed and therefore expensive assemblies for this purpose, which required great effort to be kept up-to-date with the latest technology. With the EKF technology, current computer assemblies (COTS) from the company-specific assembly program are used. The inverse, three-dimensional image of the assembly side is milled into a metal block and thus forms a form and, above all, heat-tight connection, specific to this assembly, to the primary heat exchanger. These conductors are made of pure copper for optimum energy transport. At the upper end of each such copper conductor is a planar surface, which is coupled to a special transfer module placed between the respective upper guide rails. These transfer modules are connected to the primary heat exchanger and have a high thermal efficiency and thus ensure the very efficient heat transfer. As a result, the modules can be plugged into the subrack at any time in the field and can be easily removed for maintenance purposes, without the need for special tools and without having to disassemble the subrack.Looking up at the heat transfer modules. In the background, the CPCI serial bus backplane can be seen. This preserves one of the essential advantages of the 19″ technology, namely the easy module replacement in the field. Often, development teams of experimental software rely precisely on this possibility to change the software or the sensor system in the field, and to then continue with the experiment. Further applications are the expansion of CPU modules or the change of mass storage. It is not only the high packing density and the small installation space of an industrial computer that can require a special management of the waste heat. There are many applications which require the cooling of computer systems separate from the ambient air, in order to prevent the penetration of e.g. explosive gases, dusts or oil-laden air. Such conditions of use can be found on drilling platforms as well as in opencast mining or in the paper-making industry, where sulfuric acid air pollutants will often result in the creeping death of modern computers, since their solder joints contain an increased amount of silver, legally required by the changeover to lead-free solder (RoHS regulation).Further examples of high-performance computer clusters in a confined space can be found not only in the purely civilian sector. Current fields of work are armored, self-propelled vehicles for use in areas of conflict, simultaneous license plate tracking across multiple highway lanes as Homeland Security application, and face detection in hot, dusty environments. Another example that is both obvious and at the same time has an exotic ring to it, is automated, computer-assisted waste sorting. The CoolConduct system from EKF offers new possibilities for the test system planner as well as for the automation specialist to allow for arbitrary computing power in his application. The advantages of high cooling performance even in harsh environments, the use of modern, up-to-date computer technology, and the ability to change the assemblies in the field is rounded off by another feature that is hardly to be expected considering the advantages: due to several intelligent details, the system is only half as expensive as traditional professional solutions available on the market.Share this:TwitterFacebookLinkedInMoreRedditTumblrPinterestWhatsAppSkypePocketTelegram Tags: Boards & Modules Continue Reading Previous Cable connection concept for remote embedded modular computersNext New IoT standards, products and small form factors at embedded worldlast_img read more

Tim Cahill, leading goalscorer for Australia, takes international retirement

first_imgAustralia’s most decorated footballer Tim Cahill bid a goodbye to international football after a frustrating 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. Cahill, who played his fourth World Cup, found himself on the pitch just once as he came on a substitute in Australia’s 2-0 loss to Peru. The 36-year-old has scored 50 international goals in the 107 times he has represented Australia. At the four World Cups he has played, Cahill has scored five goals, which means he has scored the most number of goals for Australia at the World Cup.Australia will be playing in the 2019 Asian Cup under new coach Graham Arnold and while they aim to defend their title in the United Arab Emirates, they will be now be without Cahill.Cahill’s decision was hardly unexpected given his age and the fact the Socceroos have a new coach.”Today’s the day that I’m officially hanging up my boots on my international career with the Socceroos,” Cahill said on his Twitter account on Tuesday. “No words can describe what it has meant to represent my country.”Massive thank you to everyone for the support throughout all my years wearing the Australian badge.”Todays the day that Im officially hanging up my boots on my international career with the Socceroos. No words can describe what it has meant to represent my country. Massive thank you to everyone for the support throughout all my years wearing the Australian badge. pic.twitter.com/gqnM1HWA7STIM CAHILL (@Tim_Cahill) July 17, 2018Cahill had also struggled to get playing time at club level in the last year, leaving A-league side Melbourne City last December before he signed with English second tier side Millwall — where he first came to prominence — in January.advertisementThe forward played just 10 games for the south-London side, mostly from the bench and former Socceroos’ coach Bert van Marwijk said that while Cahill’s talisman presence would be valuable, he was not guaranteed a spot in his World Cup squad.”He didn’t play a lot and it’s important that players have rhythm and play,” the Dutchman, who was only appointed for the World Cup campaign, said of Cahill’s struggles to get regular playing time.”But there always are exceptions. He’s a player who was very important for the national team in the qualification and in the playoffs.”Cahill’s ability to score goals at crucial times had emphasised his importance to the side throughout his 14-year international career. As a substitute he scored twice as the Socceroos beat Japan at the 2006 World Cup in Germany, earning the side their first win at the global showpiece. Most recently with the team struggling after a marathon qualifying campaign he scored twice, the second an injury-time winner, against Syria last year that propelled the Socceroos into the inter-continental playoff with Honduras. The goals, reminiscent of similar efforts against Qatar and Japan during the 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign, earned him special praise from then Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou.”Timmy was Timmy, that’s why he’s the greatest ever,” Postecoglou said at the time. “I said when he broke the hundred games he’s just a great Australian sportsman, beyond our sport.”Australia went on to beat Honduras 3-1 on aggregate to make their fourth successive World Cup finals.Cahill spent much of the tournament in Russia on the bench, but did earn his 107th cap when he replaced Tomi Juric in the second half of their 2-0 loss to the Peruvians. At the end of the game he was photographed tapping his wrist, which Australian media presciently suggested that “Timmy time” was over.(With Reuters inputs)last_img read more

Don Bradman, the world’s greatest ever batsman, was born 110 years ago today

first_imgOn August 27, 1908, one of the greatest cricketer in the history of the sport was born. Arguably the greatest batsman to have played the game of cricket, the Australian legend, even after passing away 17 years ago, remains one of the most loved, respected and perhaps the greatest cricketer of all time. And the person is none other than Donald Bradman.Born in Cootamundra, Australia, Bradman was considered the greatest cricketer of his generation and Wisden regarded him as the “the greatest phenomenon in the history of cricket, indeed in the history of all games.” Not only that, he still remains the only Australian cricketer to be knighted.Bradman called time on his international career in 1948 and earned knighthood the very next year in March. He finished with 52 Tests for Australia and amassed 6996 runs with a highest score of 334 runs at an average of 99.94 — which has remained out of reach of any batsman till date, who has retired. And, if only he had scored four runs in his last Test innings at the Oval in 1948, he would have finished with an average of 100.Bradman, whose 110th birth anniversary people are celebrating on Monday, also played 234 matches, scoring a massive 28067 runs with a career average of 95.14 and a highest score of 452 not out. But, Bradman was more than just a cricketer. He was an emotion, a celebrity and a loved player all over the world and not just his homeland. On his 110th birth anniversary, we take a look at some of The Don’s best-known quotes and records that make him one of the finest sportsmen of all times.advertisementFAVOURITE INNINGSBradman rated the record 334 he scored at Leeds in 1930 as “technically flawed” and said the 254 he scored against England at Lord’s in 1930 was much better.”Every ball went exactly where I wanted it to go until the ball that got me out,” Bradman had famously admitted.ON MISSING A CAREER AVERAGE OF 100Bradman was bowled second ball by England’s Eric Hollies for a duck in his last innings at The Oval in 1948, when he was within four runs of averaging 100 in Test cricket.”I’m very sorry I made a duck. I’d have been glad if I’d made those four extra runs to have an average of 100. I didn’t know it at the time and I don’t think the Englishmen knew it either. I think if they had known it they may have been generous enough to let me get four.”HUGE PRAISE FOR TENDULKARThe Don once said that batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar played more like him than any other batsman.”I saw him playing on television and was struck by his technique, so I asked my wife to come look at him. Now I never saw myself play, but I felt that this player is playing with a style similar to mine, and she looked at the TV and said yes, there is a similarity between the two…his compactness, technique, stroke production – it all seemed to gel!”Its been 20 years since I met the inspirational Sir #DonBradman but that special memory is so vivid. I still recall his amazing wit, warmth, and wisdom. Indian women’s hockey team set to be included in TOPS after Asian Games 2018 silver

first_imgAll members of the Indian women’s hockey team are set to be included in the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) next month, when the review committee will identify a core group for the government-funded programme. All the 18 members of the men’s hockey team are already covered under TOPS and the women’s team are set to be rewarded for earning silver at the 18th Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang.”The women’s team is already getting funds from the ACTC (Annual Calender for Training and Competitions). It’s just about Rs 50,000 monthly allowance that comes under TOPS. They will be included soon,” the source told PTI.An official from the Sports India, erstwhile Sports Authority of India, informed that Hockey India had repeatedly been requesting women’s team’s inclusion.”Hockey India has send us the proposal to include the women’s team in TOPS. At the moment we are reviewing the proposal and it is likely that they will be included in the next review of the TOPS list,” he said.Hockey India welcomed the move, saying it is better late than never.”It is a sensible decision. We have been asking for the women’s team’s inclusion in the TOPS from the very beginning but till date they were ignored. But it seems finally the girls have earned their due with their brilliant performances on the turf,” the HI official said. The official also informed that the TOPS committee is working on preparing a core group of beneficiaries.”We have asked the national federations to come up with their suggestions. The TOPS team is analysing all the athletes’ data and statistics. By October 30 we should be in a position to complete the task,” he said.advertisement”From now on it will be a day-to-day basis analysis of all the TOPS athletes. The performance managers of the athletes will do the analysis and we at the TOPS will continue to meet on a quarterly basis.”The official said once the core group is prepared the entire focus will be on supporting the selected athletes although some changes are expected to happen depending on their performances.”Suddenly a new, unknown athlete can come into picture depending on his performance and an established name can find his name dropped if his performance dips. Everything will be performance based,” he said. The official said, of late, they are receiving a lot of recommendations from the National Sports Federations (NSFs) especially after India’s impressive performance at the Gold Coast Commonwealth and Jakarta Asian Games.(With inputs from PTI)last_img read more

KL Rahul spotted at Team India practice session despite Koffee with Karan controversy

first_imgIndia batsman KL Rahul was spotted practicing with the Indian cricketers ahead of the first ODI against Australia on Friday. Rahul has been in the news for all the wrong reasons recently after he appeared on the show Koffee with Karan along with Hardik Pandya where the duo made some controversial statements.Rahul was seen along with MS Dhoni, Kuldeep Yadav, Shikhar Dhawan, Ravindra Jadeja and Khaleel Ahmed as the Team India members toiled hard at the Sydney Cricket Ground. This is the second practice session which the Indian players have enjoyed at the ground as they were forced to practice in the indoor facility due to rain on Thursday.Even though Rahul was seen at the ground, whether he and Pandya are named in the final squad for the first ODI or not remains a mystery as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is mulling a two-match ban on the duo on the suggestion of Committee of Administrators (COA) chief Vinod Rai.The #MenInBlue are all set and raring to go ahead of the 1st ODI against Australia #AUSvIND pic.twitter.com/D2vVjHoGPwBCCI (@BCCI) January 11, 2019India captain Virat Kohli on Friday slammed the duo’s sexist remarks and said that the Indian team doesn’t endorse such behaviour on or off the field.”From the Indian cricket team point of view, any inappropriate comments that are made in that scenario are something that we definitely don’t support and the two concerned players felt what has gone wrong and they have understood the magnitude of what’s happened,” Kohli said at the SCG ahead of the opening ODI against Australia. “Definitely it has to hit anyone hard, they will definitely understand the things that have not gone right.advertisement”We, definitely, as the Indian cricket team do not support views like that and that has been communicated. I can definitely say that as the Indian cricket team and responsible cricketers we definitely don’t align with those views and those are purely individual views.”The 30-year-old further added that the team management will have to wait on the BCCI’s decision on Pandya and Rahul before arriving at a conclusion on their final playing XI for the first match of the three-ODI series.”From the Indian cricket team’s point of view, this changes nothing in our beliefs in the change room, it does nothing to the spirit we have have been able to create. Combinations will have to be thought of once the decision comes out,” Kohli said.Hardik Pandya along with his good friend and India teammate, KL Rahul made a few borderline racist and sexist comments on the show, hosted by popular filmmaker Karan Johar.Pandya boasted about his dates and hookups with multiple women and also narrated how he informed his parents about losing his virginity.”When I lost my virginity, I came home and said, ‘Mein karke aaya hai aaj (I had sex today)’.” Pandya had said on the show.He added: “At a party, my parents asked me acha tera wala [your women] kaun sa hai, so I said yeh, yeh, yeh [pointing out to some women] and they were like ‘waah proud of u beta’.”When asked by Karan Johar why he doesn’t ask women for their names at nightclubs, Pandya replied: “I like to watch and observe how they (women) move. I’m little from the black side so I need to see how they move.”Also Read | Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul controversy won’t affect Indian dressing room: Sunil Gavaskar Also Read | BCCI raises honey trap concerns after Hardik Pandya, Rahul boast of night outs on TV showAlso Read | Hardik Pandya responds to BCCI show-cause notice and apologises to India teammateslast_img read more

No Costa better for Chelsea – Azpilicueta

However, he is now back in the Spanish capital — and Azpilicueta wished him well, all the while admitting he is pleased not to be taking him on at the Wanda Metropolitano. He said: “I was lucky enough to have played with Diego Costa with Chelsea and Spain, where I hope to meet him again very soon.”He’s now decided to change, so best of luck to him. He was important to Chelsea while he was there, but now he’s moved on.”We have to deal without him. Obviously, not to play tomorrow with Diego in Atletico is better for us.”As I said before, I played with him for two years, we’re Spanish team-mates, and he’s a top striker. Not to play against him is a little advantage for us.”Conte says he has no problem with Diego Costa and wishes him the best for the future.— Chelsea FC (@ChelseaFC) September 26, 2017Any heartache among Chelsea fans at Costa’s loss has been offset by Alvaro Morata’s flying start to life in England. The striker has netted six league goals already for the London club — and Azpilicueta is understandably delighted to see his quick acclimatisation. He added: “Well, I think he has adapted really well to our team, to the way we play since he came. His desire to perform, to be a big part of the team, has been huge. “I know the work he has been doing. He got the rewards that every striker wants: he’s scored six goals.”I’ve tried to help him since he came to London, on and off the pitch, and I’m happy for him because the work he’s been doing… he’s scoring goals, and that’s the main thing for him.”last_img read more
